Thread: Work From Home What Do You Wear

  1. #1

Default Work From Home What Do You Wear

I work from home and I don't usually wear anything but a pair of sweat pants and a blouse. I've heard that some people put on a dress and hose and wear their good shoes even if they do work from home. Do you do this? One person even told me that she puts on full make up to sit at home on the computer.

In some ways I think this is a good idea but I doubt if I would do any of this.

How do you dress if you work at home?

Believe it or not, I have an old collection of rock and roll t-shirts that I like to wear. Mainly because they would be inappropriate anywhere else!

I do a little bit of online work from home and like Skatss, I dress in sweats a lot. I think that it might make me feel a little more energetic if I dressed in regular clothes but I don't know as I would go as far as dressing like I would to go to an office job as I still have a 3 year old and housework to do. Nice work clothes would end up getting ruined in that type of a work environment but I could dress a little better I suppose.

There are times I get up, dress and put on make up to work at home. It lifts my spirits and I feel that I will look better if someone comes to my front door.

Yes, I am vain and proud of it.

    Where's that mirror?

I have only comfortable clothes. I prefer my capri yoga pants and comfy top and soft socks. I sit crosslegged in the chair sometimes and its just more ocmfy. When i am sewing or cooking though I wear these walmart white stag stretch bootcut pull on jeans, sneakers and cozy top.

I ahve worn a bathrobe and PJs at times! especially at 3 am when i cant sleep.

Anything more than PJs or underwear just defeats the very purpose of working from home, I find!!

Dressing comfortably is one my consolations of having an online job. I just clad in soft sleeveless and shorts. No make up at all.

If I worked at home-- I wouldn't dress up in a dress. I am sure I'd lounge around in sweats or jeans. I wouldn't keep my pjs on though. I don't feel awake when I'm still in my pj's.
I would also get up and shower- as you never know when you will be called to go in to the office.

I work at home also, and don't feel it is necessary to dress up. I wear tee shirts and jeans. Only on special occasions to I wear dress slack and a blouse.

Technically I'm working from home right now...and I'm wearing a comfy set of pjs, an oversized comfy shirt, a hoodie, and slippers. What's the point in getting all dressed up if you're not going anywhere?

I have a home based daycare, so can't stay in my pj's unless it is pj day. I do not dress up though---really can't because the little ones would ruin my clothes.

I usually just wear jeans and a shirt--or if it is cold outside like it is today--I wear my fleece coat all day..lol

I think some people believe if you are home working on a computer it is better to dress like you are going to work because it will keep you focused--instead of feeling like it is a weekend where you are just lounging. I have worked online in my pj's before---and because I was comfortable I was able to accomplish a lot.

I agree Sweet... I like to work in my pj's. I want to be comfortable- I surf and shop in my pj's and sweats.
I see your point about not dressing up for a daycare- The kids would make a mess of you. Plus it wouldn't feel homey.

I do not get the luxury of working from home but if I did I would most definitely NOT get dressed up. I would not even wear jeans,I find all my jeans to be rather uncomfortable. I have clothes I have deemed my "around the house" clothes. They are not pajamas, nor are they clothes that can be worn outside (although in super lazy moments I have) So I would wear my around the house clothes, and no makeup because I absolutely HATE doing my makeup. Wow, that would be heaven. I would love, love, love to work at home but honestly I am sure I would get nothing done.

    Hello
    Dress tips for office.
1 Be well groomed at all times. You can’t risk looking shabby at office because your personality determines your impression.
2 Always opt for smart formal/ semiformal outfits like Pants with Shirts, Pant Suits, formal Skirts with shirts, Cotton Sarees, smart Salwar suits or contemporary Churidaar Suits.
    3 Avoid garish colours
4 Style your hair in smart yet simple hairdos. If you have plain long hair, opt for an elegant bun or simply hold them with a rubber band.
5 Avoid min skirts, tight tops, flashy outfits
6 Tone down the use of makeup, hair spray, perfume
7 Wear sleek and trendy jewelry. But keep it minimal. You could wear midsized danglers in silver or faux metals. Alternately go for no-fuss ear studs. A chain or a stylish pendant should be all for the neck.
8 Don’t wear too many bangles or jewelry like anklets etc.
9 Choose between closed-toe shoes, pumps and mid heel sandals. Avoid strappy shoes. If you are wearing a skirt, nylons are a must.
10 You could wear a silk scarf if it gels with your dress
11 Carry a nice briefcase or a portfolio. Avoid huge handbags.
12 You could loosen up a little on Fridays & Saturdays if your office rules permit. Go in for jeans & top with trendy jewelry on these days.

    Thanks

Well I had her feb10th but she didn't get to come home until valentine's day because she was in the NICU for a couple of days... We had the cutest little pink white and red outfit for her, the shirt said Be Mine and the pants had litlle hearts all over it. She also had a cute little had and warm socks with a bunch of blankets over her because it was cold and rainy that day.
